Odin's Debut

Sunday I went to Golden Gate Kennel Club dog show. It is a benched show which means you have to sit on the bench with your dog all day. The public comes and asked you tons of questions about your dogs. It can be fun but it is also grueling. I was recovering from a bad cold so it was hard to talk to long without coughing.

I took a youtube of Odin. He is a puppy from Debbi and Emmy's last litter. I will post a link so you can watch Odin at his first show. He did so well. My best friend Gail showed him for us. She did a wonderful job. Gail is great with puppies. Very gentle.

The Volhard Diet

Hi,
Anyone wanting to get a puppy from Rustyco Water Dogs needs to obtain a copy of "Dog Training for Dummies" by Wendy Volhard.

I have followed the Volhard diet for dogs since 2000. I have had amazing results with keeping my dogs on a raw diet. The unusually thing about the Volhard diet is there are no bones.(except once a week we give a raw bone after dinner. The diet is fully balanced and very healthy. What I like about DTFD is that it is a great training book plus you get the chapters on the raw diet with three different versions to use. You can make the diet from scratch, buy it dehydrated, or there is also a modifed kibble diet. It also has a chapter on minimal vaccines.

The best place to buy it is from www.half.com. They sell all sorts of books that are used. You can pick one up very reasonably. If you want to further understand the diet pick up "Holistic Guide for a Healthy Dog" also by Wendy Volhard. It is the book I first read when my first water dog, Quarry had alot of health issues. The diet helped him tremendously and he was able to to live to 12 and 1/2 yrs.

I am always reading emails from alot of different dog people. Since I breed there are many articles that have so much information for new dog owners. I am going to post the links to some of these articles on my blog. Here is the lastest one I found on the developmental stages of puppies.

NEW LITTER PLANNED

We are planning a new with Farusca. We wanted to breed her to a dog that carries brown. We found out she carries brown by doing a DNA test. One possible dog was in San Diego, the other in Seattle area. Her first breeding date happened to fall on Christmas day. My daughter was visiting from Idaho. I did not want to leave Stockton for Christmas so we bred her to a local dog.
His name is Ch. Rustyco Giorgio de Toraq. He is owned by a good friend of mine in Sacramento. This is his first breeding so we dont know if he carries brown. Neither of his brothers carry brown but their maternal grandmother was brown so they do have a chance of carrying it.

The due date of the puppies will be Feb 28, give or take a few days either way. Since both the mom and dad have a lot of white this should be a colorful litter.
