re:going to the vets for an xray

I finally have time to write the story of taking Farusca to the vet for her xray. I normally dont do this but decided this time it would be nice to know how many pups she was carrying. I have a great repro vet who gives me her home number so we can call and get advice in the middle of the night when my dog is whelping her puppies. I took her on Wed Feb 25. Farusca was due on March 1.
The xray showed 11 puppies. I noticed one puppy looked like it was ready to come out. It was lined up with its head right on the edge of her bottom. The vet agreed and said she will probably have them very soon.

While I was talking to the vet in her office before we left Farusca lifted up her tail. I said she only does that when she is ready to have a puppy. Dr Metzler said "Well you better get a towel so it doesnt fall on the floor" One of the vet techs brought me a towel and we delivered the first puppy right in Dr Metzler's office.

After I got over the shock of having the first puppy, they put us in a room with a big old conforter and some hemostats. I was trying to figure out how to get home. I was an hour and half away from home! I had to be at work at 12:00. I had my minivan and I didnt even have a crate in it.

I finally called my husband and he took off work and drove our Sprinter up to get me. We left the minivan at Dr Metzler's and Ty drove me home. Farusca had delivered three puppies at the vet's office and then she delivered three more in the back of the Sprinter on the way home. I called work and said I had a family emergency and I wouldnt be in that day.

Everything went well and we had all 11 delivered by 4:30 that afternoon. The puppies are doing well. We have a couple of youtube videos of them and plan on taking another one tonight.
